To choose a web design agency in Dubai, decide first what the site must achieve (enquiries, bookings, credibility), then shortlist three agencies and compare them on evidence: relevant work you can open and test on a phone, a clear process, bilingual capability if you need Arabic, tracking and SEO basics built in, handover terms, and honest answers about what is not included. Treat price as one factor among seven, not the first filter.
Start with the job the website must do
Agencies are easiest to compare when you give each one the same brief. Before you contact anyone, write half a page that answers five questions: what you sell, who you want to reach, which action counts as success (a call, a WhatsApp message, a booked appointment), which languages are required, and what you already have (domain, logo, photos, copy). A site for a clinic that needs bookings is a different project from a portfolio site for an interior design firm, and an agency that does not ask about this before quoting is guessing.
If you want background on pricing before shortlisting, read what website design costs in Dubai. This page focuses on the harder question of who to trust with the project. For a description of what we build, see our web design service in Dubai.
Four types of provider, and when each fits
| Provider type | Fits when | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Freelancer | Small brochure site, tight budget, clear brief | Single point of failure; maintenance after launch |
| Template or DIY platform | Very simple presence, you can manage content | Limits on speed, structure and tracking; effort falls on you |
| Web studio | Custom design and development with no marketing needs | Beautiful site with no plan for traffic or enquiries |
| Marketing agency with web design | Site must produce leads together with ads and SEO | Check that design skills are real, not outsourced blindly |
None of these is always right. A service business whose growth depends on Google Ads or local search usually benefits from a provider that thinks about landing pages, tracking and speed, not only visuals.
The seven-factor scorecard
Score each agency from 1 to 5 on the factors below, then compare totals only after you have written down the evidence for each score. Weighting is your decision: a clinic may weight compliance and trust higher, a contractor may weight speed and portfolio quality.
| Factor | What good evidence looks like | Quick test |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Relevant work | Live sites in a similar sector or problem | Open three on your phone; judge speed and clarity |
| 2. Process | Written stages, approvals, who does what | Ask for a sample timeline with your inputs marked |
| 3. Bilingual capability | Arabic and English versions built properly, including right-to-left layout | Open the Arabic version of a sample and check alignment and fonts |
| 4. Conversion thinking | Clear calls to action, click-to-call, WhatsApp, forms | Ask what each page is meant to make the visitor do |
| 5. SEO and tracking basics | Page structure, titles, redirects, analytics events included | Ask what is configured at launch and who checks it |
| 6. Ownership and handover | You own domain, hosting access, files, logins | Ask what you receive on launch day |
| 7. Honesty on scope | Clear list of what is not included | Ask what usually costs extra |
Check the portfolio the way a customer would
Portfolios are curated. To see beyond the curation, open each example site and run a ten-minute test. Load it on a mobile connection and see whether the first screen appears quickly. Tap the phone number and WhatsApp button. Fill in the form and see what the confirmation says. Look for the Arabic version if one exists. Search the brand name on Google to see whether the site appears in a clean way. These checks tell you more than a case-study slide.
Speed deserves its own check. Google publishes Core Web Vitals guidance on web.dev, and you can run any live page through PageSpeed Insights. Do not expect perfect scores everywhere, but ask the agency how they approach image sizes, fonts and scripts. Our website maintenance cost guide explains why this work continues after launch.
Share your brief and get a plain-language plan
Send a short description of your business, the pages you think you need and the languages required. We reply with initial notes on structure and priorities, which you can also use to compare other agencies.
Questions that separate good agencies from good salespeople
- Who will actually design and build my site? Ask for roles, not just a brand name.
- What do you need from me, and by when? Content delays cause most late projects.
- How many revision rounds are included? Get the number and the extra charge.
- Will you write or advise on the copy? Many projects stall on text.
- How do you handle Arabic? Ask whether it is designed natively or mirrored mechanically.
- What is set up for tracking at launch? Calls, WhatsApp clicks and form submissions should be measurable. See how to track calls and WhatsApp conversions.
- Who owns the site and the accounts? The answer should be you.
- What happens after launch? Hosting, updates, backups, fixes and who answers when something breaks.
Red flags in proposals
- One price, no breakdown: you cannot compare or remove anything.
- Guaranteed ranking or traffic: no honest provider can promise a position on Google.
- Templates sold as custom: ask to see the difference in what you receive.
- No mention of your content: someone has to write, translate and photograph; if nobody is named, expect delay.
- Domain or hosting registered to the agency: request the registrant details in your name.
- Pressure to sign today: a real project does not expire at midnight.
- No questions about your customers: design without audience knowledge is decoration.
Sector notes: what changes in the brief
Clinics and healthcare
Trust, clarity and compliance come first. Doctor profiles, service pages, appointment options and privacy information must be organised carefully, and health advertising has special policies on Google and Meta, so landing pages should be ready for review. Use the clinic website checklist as a brief.
Home and field services
Cleaning, moving, AC and pest-control sites win on speed, service-area clarity and easy quote requests. Prioritise a sticky call button, a short form and service pages by location and job type.
Real-estate, interior design and showrooms
Image-heavy sites need performance discipline. Ask how galleries are optimised and how listings or projects are structured so they remain easy to update.
Plan the project timeline around your side
Most overruns originate on the client side: content, approvals and access arriving late. Ask for a timeline that shows your tasks as clearly as the agency's. Typical stages are discovery, structure and wireframes, design, content, build, testing, launch checks and a short stabilisation period. Avoid any provider who promises a fixed duration without seeing your content; the honest answer depends on page count, languages and how quickly you respond.
If you are replacing an existing site, treat the redirect plan as a core deliverable so you do not lose search visibility; our website redesign checklist lists what to protect.
Comparing quotes fairly
Put each proposal into one table with the same rows: number of pages and templates, languages, design rounds, content help, forms and integrations, tracking set-up, SEO set-up, training, hosting and maintenance, and what is excluded. Differences between quotes usually sit in two or three rows. If two agencies have a large price gap, ask each to explain the gap against that table rather than defend its number. Remember that the cheapest option can become the most costly when missing items are added later, and the most expensive is not automatically better.
Also ask for the agreement before you pay a deposit. The marketing agency contract checklist covers ownership, termination and revision terms that apply to web projects as well, and it is not legal advice, so have a lawyer review the final document.
After launch: keep the site earning
A website is a working asset, not a finished brochure. Plan the first month after launch: check that tracking records real enquiries, that forms reach the right inbox, that old URLs redirect properly, and that pages are indexed. Connect the site to your channels, whether Google Ads or SEO, and review enquiry quality in a monthly report. If the site is bilingual, read our guide to bilingual website SEO before the structure is final.
Three buyer scenarios and what to prioritise
| Scenario | Priority factors | Sensible first step |
|---|---|---|
| New clinic launching its first website | Trust content, appointment flow, privacy information, mobile speed | Agree page list and compliance review steps before design starts |
| Established contractor with an outdated site | Portfolio presentation, quote form, redirects from old URLs | Export current pages and enquiry history before the redesign |
| Service company about to start paid ads | Landing pages, tracking, speed, message match | Build two or three focused pages first, then expand |
The common thread is sequence. Decide what the site must do, build the pages that do it, and measure before adding more. Many projects fail because the site tries to be everything at once and launches late.
A 30-minute call script for each shortlisted agency
Use the same script with every agency so answers are comparable. Spend five minutes describing your business and goal, ten minutes on their process and who is involved, ten minutes on your specific needs (languages, integrations, tracking, content), and five minutes on commercial terms and next steps. Take notes in the same table you will use to compare quotes. Afterward, send the same follow-up message to each, listing your assumptions, and see who corrects them. An agency that quietly accepts wrong assumptions will cost you later; one that corrects them politely has probably done this before.
Finally, trust your reading of the relationship. You will exchange feedback for weeks. Clear writing, prompt replies and willingness to say no to a bad idea are all signals that carry into the project.
